On September 16, 2022, I was initiated in a ceremony in Mallorca, Spain, during which I took my Acharya vows and my Karma Sannyas vows. The week prior, at the Rudra Retreat Center where the ceremony was held, I was immersed in open eye classes, deep meditation, consciousness-raising sessions, and in-depth instruction and teaching by Acharya Premananda and Acharya Shambavi Devi. A beautiful transformation changed me from a seeker of spiritual truth to both a seeker and bearer of that precious thing. Becoming aware of this new level of consciousness which I held deeply inside myself and which I could and did use in my outer life then (and now), prepared me to appreciate the vows of the initiation as the beginning of a new commitment and ability to put myself forward in the world as Acharya Devadas, a true servant of God.
